Requirements and Procedure for obtaining GMDSS (GOC) Endorsement

  • Application may downloaded from this website
  • Issued on every Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1600 and 1800 hrs.
  • Application may be submitted at the Deck Section on any working day during office hours after paying the fees as indicated below or may be sent by courier/speed post to the below given address

  • If Forwarding the application by courier/speed post, please allow at least 72 hours (on working days) to process the application
  • Candidates to report at the section 9:30 AM for collecting the Endorsement. (Candidates applying directly in person on Mondays and Tuesdays will get the endorsement on the following Thursday. Candidates applying directly in person on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays will get the endorsement on the following Tuesday)

Photo Copies of the following certificates must be enclosed with the Application:-

  1. Certificate of Competency (If any)
  2. GMDSS GOC Certificate (All pages with entries).
  3. CDC (All pages with entries)
  4. Medical Fitness Certificate in ILO format from a Doctor approved by the DGS (May be produced at the time of collecting the endorsement also)
  5. PSSR
  6. PSC & RB
  7. AFF
  8. MFA/Medicare
  9. Indos Number
  10. Proof of Sea Service*
a) For First Endorsement – At least 6 months approved sea service (similar to that of Senior Cadet, Jr.Officer cum Radio Officer etc)
b) For Renewal of Endorsement – Proof of 1 year of sea service/relevant service* within the last five years (If the candidate has worked on Indian Flag Vessels, entries on Indian CDC will suffice. If worked on Foreign Flag vessels, a record of Sea Service from the registered manning agent with in India with RPSL number is mandatory)
Other Requirements:
1.Two Colour Passport Size photographs (to be brought on the day of collecting the endorsement).
2.Fees: Rs. 1000/- by Demand Draft drawn in favour of “The Principal Officer, MMD, Chennai”
  • Candidates should bring the Original Copies of all the above documents while coming to collect the endorsement.
